Does Shaq need to hang it up?

Shaq is one of the most imposing players in NBA history. It’s amazing how a guy that size could move the way he did in his prime. It was incredible to watch. His game was predicated on his power and size. The qualities that helped him become great are killing him at the end of his career.

Let’s face it, Shaq was dominant because of his size and his ability to move. He was not the most skilled center to ever play this game. He never really developed a jump shot, never a great free throw shooter or rebounder. So all these small things that you need as an older player is not there. On top of that, his weight is killing him from being able to run the floor. It pains me to see how he is going out.

However, Shaq signing with Boston is intriging. Boston is a half court team that runs moderately. Shaq can definitely fill the role while Perkins is out. It seems like Boston is going to be a good fit. Now do I see them  competing with Miami. Hmm….let’s wait and see.
